Welcome to part 2 of the Summer Bag CAL! In part 1 we made a nicely textured base for our bag. In this part we will continuing by adding a zig-zag section to our summer bag. We will use all the colors in this part.
A tip before you start with part 2 is to study how to start a round with a standing stitch and how to make an invisible join. Using these techniques instead of starting and joining with chains and slip stitches will make the seam on the bag less visible. Links to descriptions are found below.

Abbreviations (US Terms)
st/sts – Stitch/stitches
ch – Chain
sl st – Slip stitch
sc – Single crochet
hdc – Half double crochet
dc – Double crochet
hdc2tog – Half double crochet two stitches together (description below)
dc2tog – Double crochet two stitches together (description below)
blo – Back loop only
hdc2tog – Yarn over, insert hook in first st,pull up a loop (3 loops on hook),insert hook in next st, pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through all loops on hook.
dc2tog – Yarn over, insert hook in first st, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops. Yarn over, insert hook in next st, pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops (3 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through last 3 loops.

** – Repeat instructions between asterisks the amount of times specified.
General
- The first ch on each round does not count as a stitch.
- Join the round with a sl st in the first st of the round if nothing else is described.
- Crochet through both loops of a stitch if nothing else is described.
- The stitch count for each round is written in the parenthesis to the right below each round description.

Round 13:
This round is crocheted in blo!
Start in the middle dc on one of the 3 dc groups made on previous round.
Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc) or make a standing dc. Make 1 dc in the same st.
*1 dc each in next 8 sts, dc2tog , 1 dc in next st, dc2tog, 1 dc each in next 8 sts , 3 dc in next st* repeat 6 times, skip the last 3 dc on the last repeat. Make 1 dc in the same st as the 2 first dc on the round instead.
(132 sts :120 dc and 12 x dc2tog )
Round 14-15:
Repeat round 13 two times but crochet through both loops.
(132 sts : 120 dc and 12 x dc2tog )
Change to color C!
Round 16:
Repeat round 13 but crochet in blo!
(132 sts :120 dc and 12 x dc2tog )
Change to color D!
Round 17:
Crochet in blo.
Start in the second dc of one of the 3 dc groups on previous round.
Ch 1 and make 1 sc in the same st or make a standing sc.
*Make 1 sc each in next 9 sts, 1 hdc each in next 3 sts, 1 sc each in next 10 sts *, repeat 6 times, skip the last sc on the last repeat.
(132 sts : 18 hdc and 114 sc)
Change to color E!
Round 18:
Crochet in blo.
Start in first st of previous round.
Ch 1 and make 1 sc in the same st or make a standing sc.
*1 sc each in next 8 sts , hdc2tog , 1 hdc in next st, hdc2tog, 1 sc each in next 9 sts*, repeat 6 times, skip the last sc on the last repeat.
(120 sts :12 hdc2tog, 6 hdc and 102 sc)
Change to color F!
Round 19:
Crochet in blo.
Start in first st of previous round.
Ch 1 and make 1 sc in the same st or make a standing sc.
*1 sc each in next 5 sts, 1 hdc each in next 9 sts, 1 sc each in next 6 sts*, repeat 6 times, skip the last sc on the last repeat.
(120 sts : 54 hdc and 66 sc)
Round 20 – 23:
Ch 1, 1 hdc in each st around.
(120 sts :120 hdc )

The diagram show the 2 first pattern repeats on each round. The first ch on each round is not visible in the diagram.
