Christmas Baubles

There are so many lovely knitted Christmas baubles out there but since I do not know how to knit I’ll had to make my own crochet pattern. So let’s crochet some Christmas baubles!

These are pretty quick to make since they mainly are built up by dc’s  🙂  And the fact that they are perfect if you have kids, that’s just a bonus.


The yarn used in this pattern was sponsored by Järbo Garn .


MATERIAL

Yarn: Alpacka Solo, Järbo garn (100% Alpaca) and Glittra, Järbo Garn (60% Cupro, 40% Metallfiber)
Hook: 2,5 mm.
Needle for embroidery and to fasten ends.
Stuffing for the bauble or a styrolit ball with diameter 6 cm.

Approximate bauble diameter: 6 cm

ABBREVIATIONS, US CROCHET TERMS

st – stitch
sl st – slip stitch
sk – skip
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet

tr – treble crochet
blo – back loop only
fl – front loop

DESCRIPTION – half bauble, make 2!

Start with a magic ring.

Round 1:

ch 3, 11 dc in the magic ring.
Join round with a sl st in the top chain of the first ch 3. (12 st’s)

Round 1

 

Round 2:

ch 3, 1 dc in same st, 2 dc in all st’s around.
Join round with a sl st in the top chain of the first ch 3.
(24 st’s)

Round 2



Round 3: Work this round in back loop only!!Ch 3, *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st* repeat 11 times, 2 dc in next st.
Join round with a sl st in the top chain of the first ch 3. (36 st’s)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Round 3

Round 4: Change color on your yarn!! Start in any st. Work this round in back loop only!!

Ch 1 or make a standing sc, sc in next st (image 1),
*tr in fl of st from round 2 right below next st (image 2), sk 1 st’s, sc in 2 next st’s* repeat 12 times,
tr in fl of st from round 2 right below next st.
Join round with a sl st in the top chain of the first st. (36 st’s)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Round 4

 

Round 5: Change color on your yarn!! Start in any st. Work this round in back loop only!!

Ch 3 or make a standing dc, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, * 1 dc each in next 2 st’s, 2 dc in next st* repeat 11 times.
Join round with a sl st in the top chain of the first st. (48 st’s)

Round 5

 

Round 6:

Ch 3, dc in each st around.
Join round with a sl st in the top chain of the first st. (48 st’s)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Round 6

Make 2 half baubles and sew them together with the same color as on round 5. Don’t forget to put some stuffing or the styrolit ball inside the bauble before you close it completely :)Make a hanging thread from the top of your bauble.

Decorate the bauble by sewing stars and dots in metallic yarn all around the middle of the bauble.

Finished!
